This team headshot photography session meant I had the coolest opportunity to work with an amazing company right out of Arlington, VA. They brought me in to capture headshots of their fantastic team for their website. And let me tell you, it was a blast!
Instead of sticking to a traditional backdrop, we decided to shake things up a bit. We used their actual office space as our setting. Honestly, this is always my favorite approach. There’s something so genuine and vibrant about using a space that’s part of the daily life of the subjects.
Now, the lighting? We kept it as natural as possible, harnessing the glow from the office windows. A touch of fill flash was all we needed to make each photo pop just right. The office itself was a dream—gorgeous areas everywhere. Which meant we had the freedom to roam and experiment with different spots.
One of the best parts? The company was all for variety in their team headshot photography. They didn’t want cookie-cutter headshots with matching backgrounds for everyone. This was music to my ears! It meant we could tailor each shot to reflect the individual’s personality while still capturing the essence of their role and the company’s vibe.
Moving from one area of the office to another, we managed to give each photo its own flavor. Whether it was a cozy corner with soft light or a lively spot bustling with the day’s energy, each setting added a unique layer to the story we were telling.
This session was a reminder of how breaking the mold and stepping away from the expected can lead to truly special results. Not only did we capture the professional side of each team member, but we also caught glimpses of the vibrant culture that makes their company tick.
So, for businesses thinking about updating their team photos, consider this: letting your workspace be part of your story can add depth and authenticity to your brand’s image. After all, it’s the unexpected backdrops and moments that often speak the loudest. Ready to bring your own office to life through photography? Let’s chat!
