Politician branding photography is not my norm, but I had the fantastic opportunity to work with Henry, who ran for the Treasurer of Loudoun County, Virginia. Spoiler alert – he won! Henry approached me to create branding photos for his campaign. Let me tell you, it was an experience filled with both inspiration and a dash of humor.
We decided to meet in Leesburg, right near the iconic courthouse. Our goal was to capture images that resonated with the heart and soul of Loudoun County. Incorporating town landmarks wasn’t just about the aesthetics; it was about rooting Henry’s campaign in the community he was set to serve. And honestly, there’s something special about having those recognizable backdrops that speak directly to the locals.
Now, Henry had this great idea to have photos of him engaging with the public. However, we hit a little snag – no arrangements were made in advance to have people ready for these shots. So, what did we do? We got creative!

Approaching people on the spot turned out to be both fun and, at times, downright hilarious. Imagine walking up to complete strangers, explaining you’re running for office, and asking if they’d like to be part of your campaign materials right then and there. At first, the reactions were a mix, as you can imagine. That being said, it added an authentic touch to the photos that pre-arranged groups just couldn’t match.
